Click the Check Log File button to check the log file for Error and Warning messages.
If any messages are found, they will be displayed in the Browser window.
A Search link will be shown for each message.
Click the Search link to search for SAS Usage Notes that are associated with a specific message.
Use the Back and Forward buttons to control the Web browser display.
Tips for searching for SAS Usage Notes
You can easily modify the keywords that are used when searching the SAS Usage Notes
for a specific error message by following these steps:
In the Messages Report window (of messages that were found in a SAS log file),
Highlight and Copy a portion of the message for
which you want to search the SAS Usage Notes.
Click the "Search" button by the error message to search for SAS Usage Notes.
On the search engine page, modify the search keywords.
Remove the default
keywords that are used (between the quotes).
Then, Paste the new keywords
that you want to use (between the quotes).
Search the SAS Usage Notes using the new keywords.
In the Messages Report window, you can right-click on a "Search" link and select
"Open in new window" to view associated SAS Usage Notes in a new
Web browser window.
If you get too many hits, you
might want to add an additional keyword to the search query
(based on the text in the message).
If you get too few hits or no hits, you might want to remove a keyword from the search query.
If the search query contains any unique names such as a variable
name or a specific
data set name, then you may need to remove this
name from the search query.
If you get too few hits or no hits, then remove the quote marks from the text of the query.
Configuration Information
You can customize the log checking by adding messages to the
Messages_Config.txt file.
In addition to Error messages and Warning messages,
the SAS log files will be checked
to determine if they contain any of these additional messages.
This file can contain up to 500 messages.
The configuration settings are specified in the Properties_Config.txt file.
You can modify the directives in this file. An explanation of each directive
is provided in the file.
The Messages_Config.txt file and Properties_Config.txt file
are located in the same directory
as the exe file for this application. Click the above links to view the
files. Then, right-click in the
Web Browser window and select "Properties" to view the file location.
You can edit these files using a Text Editor.
Additional Notes
If you modify either of the configuration files, then you must restart the application to retrieve the new settings.
If you deselect "Show Warning messages", only Error messages will be displayed.
Otherwise, both Error and Warning messages will be displayed.
