Hi everybody I have a little probleme with SAS in connection with WRDS. I need to download for a large number of firms some stock data. For all the firms I have the cusip. So far I downloaded the data using this code and it worked. libname mylib "C:\Data"; rsubmit; %let clist = '000361' '000957' '001031' '001055' '001204' '00163U'; data stockprice; set crsp.dsf; where cusip in (&clist); keep prc cusip ret; run; . . . . and so on But now I have to do the same download for thousands of firms. Is there a possibility to save a txt or sas7bdat file which contains the cusip's and to tell SAS that it should use this file in order to download the data from the WRDS server? Hi everybody How can I tell SAS to start over and over the same calculation steps when a variable, called cusip, beginns with a new cusip? Do I have to do this with a do-loop? My data looks like this. I have the date, cusip and the price of a stock and I want to calculate the return. The mistake here is that SAS takes from the last cusip the stock price and does the return calculation with the stock price of the new cusip but this is not correct, since the cusip stands for onw company and the cusip is a unique identifier. SAS should generate always a . (dot) for the first observation when a new cusip starts. The cusip's should be independent of each other. I do this for about 400 firms with 400 different cusip's. The cusip does not start always at 19891229 (date), so the function should be contingent upon the cusip and not the date. Hi everybody I have a problem with a regression code. I have daily stock returns from 1990 to 2011 for many firms. I also have daily returns of an index from 1990 to 2011. I downloaded the two data sets separately and combined them with a proc sql as a left join step. Now the dates of the daily stock returns match exactly the dates of the daily returns of the index, which is perfect. I need to estimate market betas for every firm, every firm has a unique identifier which in this case is the CUSIP. I need to estimate the market betas for every quarter (3 month), semi year (6 month) and every year (12 month), these are my intervals. The dependent variable is the daily stock return of the individual firms called: ret, the independent variable is the daily index return called: vwretd Is there a SAS code which does the regression for every quarter, semi year and year, that is: is there a SAS code which gives me the slope for every quarter, semi year and year for every firm. Always after the year 2011 a new cusip number starts for a new firm. The daily index returns are always the same for every firm. The optimal output would be something like this where we have the cusip of the relevant firm with the slope coefficient: CUSIP         QUARTER          YEAR          SLOPE_COEFFICIENT So when I would do the regression on a yearly frequency I would have one slope coefficient per year. For the semi year frequency I would have 2 slope coefficients per year and for the quarterly frequency I would have 4 slope coefficients per year. The outputs can be given in separate files, one for the quarterly, semi yearly and yearly regressions. Hi I need to calculate returns over 3,6 and 12 month, I have monthly stock data. Can I do this with a do loop? Can somebody help me with a code to solve this problem, because I am new user os SAS. For example the first 3 month return in 1990 would be ((46.25)/(38.75))-1, the second 3 month return in 1990 would be ((38.75)/(37.5))-1 and so on... The first six month return  in 1990 would be ((46.25)/( 37.5))-1 and the second would be ((37.5)/(22.875))-1 and so on.. The 12 month return in 1990 would be ((46.25)/22.875))-1.
