Hi all,

On SAS Viya 3.5 we are only able to load one instance at a time. So, this means we can only run one program at a time, one browser tab open at a time, reference only one module at a time, etc.

I receive the following error:

You have signed in.

For increased security, sign out and close your web browser when you finish accessing services that require authentication.

Isn't this extremely backward for 2022? With SAS EG I can load multiple instances and run many programs at once and/or reference one program and work in another. Yet in a newer version of SAS, we can't do that?

If there is a workaround for this, please let me know. Thanks!

That isn't an error but it's saying you do not need to log in because you have already. You would get this message if you went to the URL https://viyahost/SASLogon. Instead of going to the URL https://viyahost/SASLogon, go to the URL for an application (i.e. https://viyahost/SASEnvironmentManager, or /SASStudioV).

If you want to log in as different users, you can use the private mode of your browser.

I also have good luck by installing the SAS Viya "site" as a progressive web app. See this topic for background.

This puts a "SAS" icon on my desktop that I can open multiple times.

Thanks @ChrisHemedinger for pointing this out ! Some Viya end-user Web Apps can be installed as such and it looks great . Even - especially - die-hard conservatives will love it, it's SAS Base refactored 🙂

I can't wait to test these must-have features. So far, I have only tested MS Teams or MS Azure portal as PWA and it works like a charm, the integration into the windows Desktop is seamless. A blog article on this topic would be nice for making everyone aware how useful it is. 😉
