Watch this Ask the Expert session to learn about SAS Visual Data Mining and Machine Learning capabilities with an accompanying demonstration showing its components.

Watch the webinar

You will learn how to:

  • Build models interactively, through pipelines and through programming.
  • Use intelligent automation, including automatic pipeline generation and automatic feature engineering for automatically cleansing, transforming, and selecting features for models.
  • Use natural language generation and interpretability plots for understanding your models.
  • Incorporate embedded support for Python and R languages.
  • Use highly scalable, distributed in-memory analytical processing.

The questions from the Q&A segment held at the end of the webinar are listed below and the slides from the webinar are attached.

Q&A

Is there score code available for each of the models?

There is. Score code can be available in two different ways. For some of the less complex algorithms, we do traditional SAS code. For some of them that are more complex, like neural networks and gradient boosting, we have a file called an A-store file that stores the store code, and you can store using the A-store file.

Is autotuning available in all the interfaces?

It is. That wasn't true early on, as some of you will know that have been on Viya for a while. It's been added to different interfaces over time, but it's now available through SAS Studio, through SAS Viya Explore and Visualize menu option, and through Model Studio pipelines. And you can do autotuning using a SWAT action set.

Can I add SAS Visual Data Mining and Machine learning to my current SAS install?

Yes, you can and it's very easy to do for your SAS admins to add that in. It's an additional module that just can easily be added. That's not a problem at all.

What are curly brackets for? Is this specific for SAS Viya using CAS?

It's part of the syntax for the additional language CASL available in SAS Viya.

Do you have a reference link that you can share?

https://go.documentation.sas.com/doc/en/pgmsascdc/v_032/caslpg/titlepage.htm. Curly brackets are used in referencing arrays and dictionaries, name/value pairs when running a CAS action.

Which version of SAS Enterprise Guide is capable for Visual SAS mining and Machine Learning?

If you have SAS Viya 3.5, you can use Enterprise Guide 8.x to interact with Viya.
